Anyone who has climbed the hills of Ireland to capture good shots can relate to this… well, kind of!

The photographer, Hans van de Vorst, has a superb site.
Check out his latest work entitled The American West:-

    nuckingfuts-

Other good pictures in that guy’s gallery too-
just goes to show that its the subject matter that really sells a picture-

Not sure I should mention it and spoil the fun but there is a snopes page explaining that the jumper wasn’t taking as much risk as you’re led to believe because there’s a ledge under him just out of the shot.
    (Google for “snopes canyon leap”)

Thanks jlang! Just don’t tell me that the Easter Bunny isn’t coming in a couple of months time!

Still, the pictures are a good lesson in how to crop photographs to attract attention. This link gives a truer explanation.

That took balls for sure, heh. Having been there, I’ll say that the best time is easily dawn, dusk or late on a clear night.

And get there EARLY or you will be at the back of the line for taking shots. Been lucky enough to be there twice. My rubbish shots from there are part of why I got interested in this hobby. The sights and colours are amazing. I think the scale of the place is what makes it hard to shoot too. Best memory …. being charged by a heard of mountain goats when they heard my camera click :-)

Aye, best thing to do is to hike the canyon on foot. Pack a few memory cards and spare batteries and go down yonder for a few days.
